Airline passengers now have the choice to upgrade from the economy class to a higher one at a fraction of the normal cost.
Optiontown, which has developed the proprietary software for the service ‘upgrade travel option) UTo)’, said the service can help save up to 75 per cent on the full upgrade fare.
“A passenger can log onto our website after buying a ticket and, depending upon availability, upgrade to a higher class by paying a nominal fee, Optiontown’s chief executive officer Sachin Goel said.
He said that the cost of moving to a higher class after signing up with Option town will be Rs 2500-3,000 for domestic travel and s 15,000-20,000 fir foreign destinations, against two to three times of the price in normal course.
In addition to UTo, the company also offers cash back to passengers who are flexible to travel on any other day or flight for which they have bought tickets.
For running the business, Optiontown has built a team that includes former heads of several global carriers such as Air Canada, Australia Airlines and Air France.
