Leading five-star hotel chains across the country have come up with special promotional packages starting from as low as Rs 4,900 to cash in on the Independence Day weekend.
Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces and Ramada Group are. Offering promotional deals for spending time with loved ones over the long weekend, starting from August 14.Some hotels such as JW Marriott and Renaissance and Royal Orchid Group are offering Independence Day discounts on food and beverages.
A senior Taj official said these types of packages help the hotel chain improve occupancy levels by 10-15 per cent during weekends.
“Our focus is on individuals and families, who are looking for place to relax within the city or at a distance where they can reach in short time,’ said Mukesh Kumar, general Hotel Ramada Plaza Palm Grove.
In case of Taj Hotels, two of its palace properties – Umaid Bhavan and Rambagh Palaces, - in Jodhpur and Jaipur respectively are also offering accommodation at 11 per cent discount for Rs 40,000 for three nights, excluding taxes. The travelers to these palaces will also be getting 20 per cent discount on food and beverages.
During their stay at the hotel, guests can also avail of a cookery class with the chef. Marriott and Royal Orchid Group of hotels have planned to offer a patriotic ambience and special menus for incoming customers on August 15.
“These types of packages help us in making up for the decline in occupancy during the weekdays, which is around 60 per cent. However, a limited number of rooms are allotted for bookings received through the Independence Day offer,” the Taj official said.
Another reason for these hotels to offer such packages is that the occupancy rate across the hospitality industry is around 65-70 per cent, which is expected to go up from October, a hospitality expert told Financial Chronicle.
A free pickup and drop will be offered to customers who stay for two nights or more in the hotels. Access to swimming pool, health club and spa are also provided on a complimentary basis.
