With an aim to give a boost to the tourism in the state, Assam government is adopting a slew of measures which include launching of a luxury liner with the state-of-the-art facilities.
Speaking to PTI here, Monalisa Goswami, Director of Tourism-Assam, said, "The liner will cruise from Guwahati to Dibrugarh covering Kamaksha Temple, Kaziranga National Park, Majuli island and famous Vaishnavite sites. Tourists would get to see the animals and sites more closely".
"The liner was being built in partnership with a private firm and would be ready by December. It will have 29 chambers with five-star facilities like spa and swimming pool," Goswami said during a two-day road show of tourism opportunities in east and northeast India here.
Drop in insurgent activities in the region have also contributed to an increase in the tourist influx to the North-eastern states, in recent days, she added.
