The Bihar government will set up a bamboo village to provide a comfortable stay for tourists who will visit Gaya during the Pitripaksha Mela.
Devout Hindus from across the country and even abroad come to Gaya during the fair for salvation of their ancestors. The fortnight-long mela starts from September 5.
Of late, tourist inflow to Bihar has increased largely because of the improving law and order situation. The state government has also put in place several initiatives to help promote tourism in the state.
And now when the stage is set for Pitripaksha Mela, the tourism department has decided to build 20 state-of-the-art dwelling huts made of bamboo at Bodh Gaya to accommodate the visitors. "Each hut will have sufficient space with four to five rooms, besides attached bathroom facility," said state tourism minister Rampravesh Rai.
The Gaya district administration is targeting a tourist inflow over 10 lakh this time for offering pindadan to the souls of their ancestors on the banks of the Falgu river.
Apart from the bamboo village, the state government has also decided to beef up security arrangement at Gaya for visitors who may even use the opportunity to visit Mahabodhi temple.
