Sri Lankan Airlines, which had withdrawn almost half of its India operations due to low traffic, is looking at adding a few more frequencies on Indian routes.
To begin with, the carrier will add two more flights from Trichy. This will be in addition to 46 flights that the airline flies from six cities in India. “We will look at adding more flights and more destinations in future.
Earlier, we had about 100 flights per day but had to cut down due to low demand. Now, with the tourism and other trade sectors growing, there is a better scope for growth,” said Lalith De Silva, manager sales (north India), Sri Lankan Airlines.
SLTPB expects to receive 2.5 million tourists and earn $2 billion by 2016. India will contribute about 5 lakh tourists.
