As part of its strategies to stay afloat in the present economic conditions, travel portal Yatra.com plans to introduce more value-added services, increase transparency in transactions and improve process efficiencies.
The company also plans to expand its offline “Holiday Lounges” to at least four more cities from the present 11 centres by the end of this calendar year. Almost all airlines and tour operators are now offering packages at the lowest prices ever known in recent times. The economic slowdown and the recent pandemic scare (swine flu) are said to be among the major reasons for the heavy discounts. Yatra introduced its “Sabse Sasta” (cheapest) international holiday offers to 12 destinations with theme packages starting at Rs 9,299 on September 7.
“However, things have started looking up,” said Bhawna Agarwal, founding general manager, airlines business group of Yatra.com. “People start travelling from September (beginning of the holiday season) and most airlines and hotels are offering highly attractive packages. Tour operators are passing the benefits to consumers,” she added.
