Emirates Sky cargo- the airfreight company of Dubai-based Emirates Airline, after a sluggish growth last year, plans to expand its reach in the Indian market.
An emirate is introducing nine new services from Dubai to Indian cities. Of this, four additional flights will be from Thiruvanantha-puram and five from Kozhicode.”We will add eight more flights per week from December , taking the total number to 184 from 172 in October 2009.The frequencies have been increasing constantly .In April, we had just 116 flights per week. This will take our present capacity of 2,697 tone cargo to over 3,000 tone from December,”Keki Patel, cargomanager, Emirates Airline said.
The firm contributes 19 per cent of overall revenue to Emirates.” The air cargo market in India has huge potential. We have many clients, both corporate and individual, from all across the sectors. Pharmaceuticals is one of the emerging segments,” he said.
