To increase tourist footfall in the state during the upcoming South Asian Federation Winter Games and Maha Kumbh-2010, Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board is showcasing its plans in Delhi ITF-2009.
As soon as one enters the pavilion one can see the stalls of SAF and Maha Kumbh on entry gate of the ‘Focus State’, Uttrakhand, for the Indian and Foreign visitors. A state is nominated the ‘Focus State’ every year.
“It is the first time that UTDB is promoting its programmers in the trade fair’s, Uttarakhand is known for its natural beauty and attracts everyone from India and foreign countries, but we are expecting that the footfall of tourists will increase after witnessing our plans regarding special facilities during SAF Games and Maha Kumbh,”said Regional Tourist Officer, UTDB, Mrs. Poonam Chand.
“As per our details regarding 2008 statistics the footfall of Indian tourists touched the ratio of 2,30,34,000 while 1,11,000 foreign tourists were registered .We hope that last years counting of tourists will be doubled as UTDB is promoting two big events in Uttarakhand ,”added Mrs. Chand.
According to the UTDB plan, artificial snow making machines, new ropeways and international category slopes .for the skating have been completed for the SAF.However; the work for new hotels is being carried out.”UTDB, a governing body working under the state government organizes the whole events of the state which is promoted by time to time events like IITF.The purpose of UTDB is to represent its state on the world’s stage with the help of this trade fares,” added Mrs. hand.
Being the ‘Focus State’ Uttar hand, is not only trying to promote its tourism but also as the land of industries and culture also, she added.
