With business or ‘premium’ travel reviving, Air France has joined Lufthansa, British Airways and Jet Airways in providing ultra luxury air travel.
Sebastien Guyot, commercial director (Southeast Asia), Air France, said that the business class travel is getting back into action and we are operating at a load capacity of 90%. The yield is also likely to double. “We have seen a 5% increase in capacity YoY. With the traffic increasing, there will be an 11% increase in the seat capacity for Mumbai,” Guyot added.
Air France is looking at India as an important market and is keen on expanding its portfolio. Besides the introduction of La Premiere, the airline will also be launching a new product which will be in between the economy and business class by June this year; the service for which will commence in Mumbai.
In order to expand its network, the airline is also looking at code sharing with a domestic player. Pieter de Man, general manager (Southeast Asia region), Air France said the announcement with respect to this will be made in July.
“Currently we fly to Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai and through code sharing, we are looking at flying to eight new destinations, mainly covering Tier I and II cities,” Man added.
