India has decided to ban Tiger Tourism in effort to save the tiger from complete extinction. Although Some Indian Tourism authorities were not in favor of ban but government took the right step by banning tiger tourism
There are only 1,411 tigers left in India, increasing Tiger Tourism. Numbers of famous Bengal Tigers has dropped from 3,642 to the point that it fears to be extinct within five to seven years.
Therefore India's National Tiger Conservation Authority has taken tough decision of banning tourism in its 37 tiger reserves to save tigers.
Tiger Conservation Authority spokesperson said - "People should understand that we created these reserves to protect tigers from extinction not for tourism opportunities. Tiger Tourism is not our primary concerned, our goal is to protect National Animal from extinction".
Unfortunately our reserves aren't as big as some of the African Safaris. Our parks can not stand large numbers of tourists. It is hurting efforts to protect Tigers. Large numbers of tourists in the forests is creating problems for the Tigers. There has been incidents where tourist vehicles has hurt or killed tigers in past few months.
Tiger Tourism may be hurt from this move by the government but nothing comes above the survival of this animal. People who are crying about its impact on tourism should understand that Tiger Tourism industry does not benefit much it is costing tigers. Besides there would be no Tiger Tourism Industry no tiger is left in India.
