The UK ambassador to Thailand Quinton Quayle has said Britons should avoid all but essential travel to Bangkok.
He said he was not dissuading all visits to the country, but travellers should be careful, and avoid political demonstrations.
Two people have been killed, and at least 18 injured in the Thai capital, in clashes between troops and anti-government protesters.
