“Chennai is fast emerging as a medical destination despite Bangalore housing several renowned multi-speciality and super-speciality hospitals. This is an eye opener for the state government, which has to look into this matter seriously,” said M K Shankar Linge Gowda, secretary transport and incharge secretary medical education department.
He was speaking at the inauguration of Indo-British life surgery and conference on oral cancer on Friday at the Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology. He said doctors play indispensable role in detecting oral cancer. He said besides treating patients, the doctors should also engage themselves in creating awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco.
